Review of Helvetica (2007) by Tristan H — 24 Jan 2010
I like the idea of them presenting opposing views on the ubiquity of Helvetica and the interpretations on its dynamism rather than simply praising its 50-year world dominance, but it turns out that a font, even the almighty Helvetica, is not a sufficient subject for a full documentary.
Conversations about it get old, and it's a bit of a strain on the eyes to see so much of one thing for 80 minutes. As a side note, I'm pretty sure a lot of their endless "examples" of Helvetica in real life weren't actually Helvetica.
