Review of Helter Skelter (1976) by Rob M — 23 May 2007
[size=2][font=Trebuchet MS]28 Weeks Later - A good overall horror movie. Well developed characters, not too much gore (though there is enough to warrant an R rating), and some haunting, and beautiful, imagry. I felt, however, that the story was too slow at some parts, and seemed to lack a direction or a sense of story beyond running from zombies.
Pan's Labyrinth - If you havent seen this, you are missing out. It's rather like 'Lady in the Water' but it differs on one point -- it's actually good. A pleasing blend of horror, fantasy, and drama, it's an excellent movie all around.
The Naked Gun - What's more to say, classic comedy at it's finest!
Hot Fuzz - Another cop-spoof, imagine some unholy mixture of every 'bad ass cop' movie with Monty Python, and you get Hot Fuzz. You also get a hilarious and enjoyable movie.
Helter Skelter - The Manson murder story. It's very disturbing to watch, yet it does a great job of portraying the awful things which transpired during those times. The performances are well done, and the horror is not daunted by it's lack of gore. Long, but well worth it.
