Review of Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992) by Tricia J — 17 Apr 2013

Hellraiser III Hell On Earth is the weakest installment in the Hellraiser series and it is also what I consider as one of the worst sequels ever made. The plot of this film takes place after the events of Hellbound Hellraiser II where Pinhead is back after a sleazy nightclub owner buys a sculpture with his head in it and soon when the nightclub owner gets killed Pinhead suddenly comes to life and a reporter name Joey must stop Pinhead with the help of Captain Elliot Spencer who was the normal person who became the legendary Pinhead.

To be honest I hated this sequel and it wasn't really good at all. This movie is nowhere as good as the original Clive Barker classic or its first sequel and it doesn't deliver anything good at all and it could have been so much better if it wasn't for the ideas of this movie and I seriously thought that this was a good movie and I wish it could have been so much better for one reason.

What's great about Hellraiser III is that the whole film still has one of the best monsters in Horror history and Pinhead still looks good as always but his Cenobite friends look very good and my personal favorite Cenobite is the one with the Camera lens in the right eye along with the Cenobite that can blow fire on a person and overall all of the Cenobites look good in this movie.

While the last thing I like about Hellraiser III is that the whole film has a lot of great kills that are quite gory and intense. The first kill scene in this film is great and pretty graphic. The nightclub owner's death in this film is brutal and gory at the same time and the nightclub massacre(which has some impressive visual and special effects)is one of the most gruesome parts of the movie and overall the kills are great in this film but they're no longer repulsive or shocking but the kills are overall good in this film.

Nevertheless this movie suffers from a lot of problems and the movie is full of flaws from start to finish. The main problem of this film is that the whole film is no longer scary, atmospheric or intense and the film is totally 0% on the tension and I wish that the whole film could have been better if it had the same style as the first two Hellraiser movies.

The other problem with this film is that the movie has an unoriginal plot that totally makes the whole film go down the hill and seriously the plot in this film is bad really really bad and I totally hated the idea of this film and the last things I didn't like about Hellraiser III is that the whole film has a lot of visual and special effects that looks way too outdated while in certain parts the effects are effective and well used but some looks way too outdated and I wish the effects could have been better in this movie.

Ok the acting in this film is nowhere as good as the first two Hellraiser films' acting. Because here all of the casts(except Doug Bradley who plays Pinhead really well in all eight Hellraiser films)are totally wooden on they're performances in the movie and I wish that this film could have done something better if it wasn't for the film's wooden acting and overall the acting is wooden for one reason in this movie.

Director Anthony Hickox totally ruined the Hellraiser movies with this film and I didn't like how he handled this film a lot and I wish that it could have been better if it wasn't for the film's flaws for one reason.

Overall Hellraiser III Hell On Earth gets a 2/10 because the film has suffered from gallons of problems and the movie is full of flaws that totally makes this film the weakest entry in the Hellraiser series.
