Review of Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005) by Mike J — 02 Jun 2014
100% Mayhem. 0% Guilt.
Gamers playing an online game known as Hellraiser are randomly selected, upon reaching certain achievements, to attend a Hellraiser party. A group of friends find a way to get invited to the party, despite a recent friend that was a huge fan of the game mysteriously dying. The party may be more than the kids are ready for.
"It's one thing to play it, it's another to live it.".
Rick Bota, director of Love Me, Happy Face Killer, Hellraiser: Hellseeker, Hellraiser: Deader, and episodes of Haven, The Vampire Diaries, and Beauty and the Beast, delivers Hellraiser: Hellworld. The storyline for this picture felt fairly lazy and drooped with sex and limited violence. The acting is terrible and the cast includes Lance Henrickson, Katheryn Winnick, Christopher Jacot, and Doug Bradley.
"Stay away from me!".
"I'll try to contain myself.".
I watched this off Netflix because I had never seen this installment in the series. After watching it, I wasn't missing much. The first two or three films are the only ones worth watching. The series drastically fell apart after those pictures and this film was definitely grasping. I recommend skipping this picture, even for diehard fans of the genre.
"How's that for a wake-up call?".
Grade: F.
