Review of Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015) by Trina U — 31 Mar 2016
I don't get how this is getting such amazing ratings. Sally Field was the only thing to save this movie. It was full of bland, boring, two dimensional characters who have not motivation other than "we're young and she's not.".
The jokes get old about 30 minutes in and you really start looking at your watch at the 1 hour mark.
Sally Field plays into the same old tropes of someone who is old wanting to be young again and trying to recapture their youth. Sure, she's awkward and strange, but that only plays so far. The ultimate problem is the lack of motivation of, well, everyone.
To make things worse, the final challenge of the protagonist is left on the table for the audience to decide. As if anyone would talk about this film after leaving the theater.
