Review of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) by Kim S — 04 Apr 2012
I appreciate Ron Perlman's unique style and grace. His approach to his career and each role he plays is stellar. No matter how bad a film is, he looks good and is usually the reason why I go in the first place.
Some of you may remember him from the TV series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. He played Vincent (one of my very personal favorites because of Shakespeare). The reason why I bring all this up is to make the point of seeing how far he's come.
Ron was born to do Hellboy. It sounds like idiocy to say this, but it's true. There's not an actor in the biz that could've given the role what he has. I enjoyed watching he and Selma grow their relationship in this second film and I'm not usually a fan of "go again", but I think three times would be a charm for this series.
If nothing else, it would make a great box set for 2011. Guillermo Del Toro's directorial style is a good match for this project. I'd like to give kudos to the creature creators and make up artists that worked this project.
YOU ROCK!
