Review of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) by Kellan J — 17 Aug 2012
I used to read the comics; I don't recall so much humor in them. The characters seem so nonchalant about the world ending danger that you really don't get a sense of urgency from them which kills any momentum that was building.
The golden army from the title is hardly in it. The acting is okay - Doug Jones stands out - though Perlman is over the top which is perfect for the character. I'd have rated this lower, but any movie that prominently features Barry Manilow's "I Can't Smile Without You" can't be all bad.
