Review of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) by Gregg M — 30 Sep 2012
An enjoyable ride with lots of eye candy. In the end, it's more like fast food than a gourmet meal. Five minutes after the theater there are no lingering images in your head, which is sort of disappointing given director Guillermo del Toro's track record.
During a key sequence, hints are made for a third installment that would lend more weight, emotion wise. Still for a summer movie, this hits most of the necessary marks. (And you gotta love the subtle jab at conservatives who want to define what marriage should be.
