Review of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) by Josh K — 29 May 2013
While this film doesn't have quite the same feel as the first, it is still good and fun to watch. Ron Perlman returns in the role of Hellboy, proving that it is still his role, with Guillermo del Toro also returning as director, bringing a new approach to this film.
This time, the film focuses on Hellboy having to stop a dangerous enemy who wants to destroy humanity. The special effects are once again impressive, while Guillermo Navarro's cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful.
Seth MacFarlane is also perfectly cast as the voice of Johann Kraus, a new member of the BPRD. MacFarlane is at times funny, while also extremely serious. The film also has great touches of comedy placed throughout it, while the scenes in the Troll Market are well put together.
