Review of Hellboy (2004) by Steve W — 06 Aug 2014

Hellboy is definitely imaginative, with incredible puppetry, visual effects, and creature design. The movie is very imperfect however, with a lame love angle that really goes nowhere and many other cliches.

Abe Sapien is underused and the movie has some short fight scenes. Kroenen the undead zombie Nazi ninja is definitely the film's greatest strength, as a very strong villain who doesn't even have a single line.

I like the fantastical elements, but the movie is uneven as it is entertaining.
