Review of Hell Ride (2008) by Erno K — 01 Dec 2008
This movie smells like Quentin Tarantino from a mile away. Too bad the smell becomes a rotten stench towards the end.
I always feared that it would be difficult to make a movie such as this nowadays. How surprised I was then, that it starts off very well. Somewhere along the way, all reason escapes and we are left with a meaningless jumble. The plot is impossible to follow. Not many things make sense. I do not like that. Even in a crazy movie, there must be structure.
I am a male, but I must say that there is way too much boob in the film. Now, I am all for nudity and sexuality if it serves the story, and I can even understand the token tits in a Steven Seagal movie, because he is a desperate man, but we got to draw the line somewhere. When the ta-tas are whipped out in every single scene with a woman in it, one starts to wonder what they are trying to hide. By the way, the answer is: a shitty movie.
Also, the dialogue frequently sounded incredibly written. You must be one helluva thespian to pull that kind of shit off with a straight face. The most infuriating thing for me might still be the fact that the entire movie builds up to a climactic showdown, but there never is one. What the fuck?
A lame Tarantino rip-off, with Tarantino-esque music and dialogue. And Tarantino himself as the executive producer. Ouch.
