Review of Hell Ride (2008) by Karine M — 19 Apr 2009
I can see why Tarentino attached his name as producer to this movie as it's very reminiscent of a Tarentino film. Aside from that, this is basically the wet dream of rebel youth, a throw back to biker films of yore.
Booze, bikes, and babes, right? And lots of each. And a nice cast rounds out this movie with Michael Madsen (who no matter how great a shot his characters are supposed to be looks like he doesn't actually like firing them), Eric Balfour (who I have enjoyed even since his bit role in the first two episodes of Buffy.
.. the guy needs to break out already!), Dennis Hopper (who's always fun, though I think his acting days are probably behind him), Vinnie Jones (Trying his best to hide his brit accent) and David Carradine, making the obligatory appearance.
There were some minor problems with the movie, not the least of which is some of the acting. Some of the dialog was horrendous, which had me cringing in parts, and Larry Bishop, I felt, should stay behind the camera with his writing/directing duties.
But having said that, I wouldn't mind a follow-up movie giving us more of the three principles Pistolero, Gent, and Comanche. This story may be done, but that isn't to say there isn't more, and I feel like there's another story in there somewhere with these three.
