Review of Hell Ride (2008) by Nathan L — 26 Jul 2011
Brought to you by Larry Bishop and Quentin Tarantino, this biker-sploitation flick is a very curious one indeed. The eclectic cast and orgy of guns and girls are the only things that save this drugged out wanna-be revenge epic from completely collapsing in on itself.
The script and dialogue are completely nonsensical, coming close to Uwe Boll territory. The acting almost becomes a non-issue amidst the soundtrack, relentless nudity and sun-scorched violence. Director Bishop plays the lead in a forgettable part as Pistolero, leader of the Victors.
Vinnie Jones and Michael Madsen turn in the only memorable performances, while guys like David Carradine, Eric Balfour and even Dennis Hopper seem lost and bewildered in this weirdo purple-nurple of a biker show.
The girls are hot and the violence is aplenty, but that's about all there is in this ultimately disappointing stab at an enticing premise.
