Review of Hell or High Water (2016) by James L — 09 Mar 2017
A western for the modern age, all about when you simply push your luck that little bit too far, and how quickly things can spiral beyond your control. Featuring a moustachioed Captain Kirk, and Jeff Bridges doing what can only be described as an impression of himself with cotton wool in his mouth.
The cinematography is the real treat here, despite brilliant acting across all fronts, Hell or high water is a visual treat, bright and colourful and always with exceptional camera shots. The film has a great dynamic for the most part, with the two brothers picking off small time banks, and Bridges' and Co one step behnd, till things inevitably hit the fan to bring the adventure to an inevitable close.
If you get the chance by all means check out Hell or high water, it isn't an adrenaline packed thriller but will keep you on the edge of your seat from immersion alone. You will certainly see why it managed Academy award nominations, and disappointed it walked away with none.
