Review of Hell or High Water (2016) by Melyana K — 18 Sep 2016
Hell or High Water has to be the best movie of the year. If you have had it with the usual dull crop of mindless blockbusters this refreshing soulful spellbinder is for you. The death of the American dream is etched in the vast, dusty landscape of the West Texas plains, the setting of this modern day Western.
Yet the brilliant direction and the stellar performances by all the actors offer comical interludes that prevent this movie from becoming heavy or ponderous. The unexpected conclusion is uplifting and will stay with you long after the movie is over.
