Review of Hell Is for Heroes (1962) by Black S — 05 Oct 2008

If I had to pick a favorite war movie this one would edge out The Devil's Brigade and Saving Private Ryan if only for McQueen's performance. His character Reese was, I believe, the prototype for the embittered soldier hero that you saw in subsequent war movies like Saving Private Ryan.

I also happen to be of the opinion that his Reese was the basis for the Hicks character in Aliens.
