Review of Hell in the Pacific (1968) by Jordan C — 16 Mar 2009
I greatly enjoyed this film. It is certainly not an action packed John Wayn-esque thriller like the title implies, rather a slow study of two men trying to survive. The cast features exactly two actors, both of which are the best possible actors for the roles they portrayed.
Mifune and Marvin always elevated the level of the movies they were in and this is no exception. That neither speaks the language of the other is very fitting and adds a subtle undercurrent that is present throughout the film.
