Review of Hell Fest (2018) by Juan Carlos D — 26 Sep 2018
Obviously critics are going to hate this film but I really enjoyed it! It doesn't do anything new but it certainly tells an entertaining story. I miss good slasher films and this was a nice refresher.
It's not overly complicated and it doesn't have much of a story. It did rely on jump scares a little more than I would've liked but I think that they helped the suspense. I felt like the killer could have popped out at any moment and I found that fun! Sure your investment hinges on the fact that you have to suspend your belief but let's be realistic here. What movie doesn't? Horror is all about suspended belief and "What would you do in that circumstance scenarios." When was the last time you had a demonic nun chasing you around in the dark?
If you like horror and want an eerie good time then give this a shot but if you're looking for something ultra realistic then maybe skip this and watch a documentary instead.
