Review of Hell and Back Again (2011) by Lori B — 24 Jan 2012
Although I haven't seen all the Oscar nominated docs yet, I honestly cannot imagine a better 2011 documentary than "Hell and Back Again." The photography is stunning, and the editing really tells an effective story about the dichotomy between the war front and the post-war home front.
I don't think I've ever seen a more effective documentation of what we actually sacrifice when we send our young men to war, and the most telling wounds are definitely not the physical ones.
