Review of Heist (2001) by Ike O — 05 Sep 2011
Surprisingly sharp, engaging and witty; it doesn't reinvent the heist film, but infuses it with a great deal of verve and style. The players are uniformly superb (save Mamet's wife Rebecca Pidgeon, who's a fair bit stilted) with Hackman at his usual, charming, brilliant best and Delroy Lindo matching him blow-for-blow.
Danny DeVito is top-drawer here, blessed with some exquisite lines in a scene-stealing turn. This almost makes up for the horrifyingly bad 'Edmond'.
