Review of Heights (2013) by Jed K — 26 Mar 2006
Sorry I usually only have positive ("fresh") reviews, but that's because I know what I like and usually don't go too wrong when picking the movies I decide to watch.
Anyway, I've seen a ton more than these five as of late, but this'll do for now. ;).
V for Vendetta.
Fun/intriguing hero, smart dialogue, nice fight sequences.
Of course, Natalie Portman makes things even better, as she still looks great even with a shaved head.
After the movie ended, I had a strong urge to search for V's costume on Ebay and strut around in it.
...but luckily the urge subsided after a couple of days.
16 Blocks.
Solid action flick that entertains the whole way through and ends with a touching/rewarding scene.
Bruce Willis sure looks old, though.
Mos Def's voice may annoy some people, but I didn't find it to be bothersome.
Inside Man.
I love Clive Owen (and Denzel doesn't hurt things, either), and the ending scenes are smart and well played out.
I really dislike Jodie Foster's character, though.
I kind of felt a bit disappointed overall, as my hype for this movie was fairly high.
Heights.
I was hoping for an even better version of of the already good "Closer," but didn't find it here.
The movie was decent, and is definitely worth a watch... but don't expect to be amazed.
Oldboy.
Crazy Korean revenge story that's a whole lot of 'fucked up' and 'entertaining' rolled into one.
The plot may be a bit much for some people, but for those that appreciate this type of film (you know who you are), you'll really enjoy yourself while watching things unfold.
It's easily the kind of movie you could watch again and still find something new, or see things in a different way.
