Review of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) by Oscar T — 23 May 2008
Hard to follow (at times) but fascinating story about a transsexual rock singer named Hedwig and her quest for fame, fortune and love. Impossible to describe, but a pleasure to watch. Never stops moving and extremely well-directed by John Cameron Mitchell (who also gives a wonderful performance as Hedwig).
The songs are loud and good, performed with gusto and tons of energy. A rare Hollywood film that doesn't play is safe with its sexual content and doesn't wimp out at the end. A one of a kind film and well worth seeing.
