Review of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) by Stephen L — 08 Feb 2010
A musical succeeds when it's music works together with the story, however I feel the best musicals are ones that have the music supercedes the story. Hedwig does that by translating the sensationalism of theatre as abstraction of reality and dream sequences in the film coupled with music that sounds familiar but does not rip off any particular genre.
If I got surprised at the quality of it, you'd have your socks blown clean off.
