Review of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) by John A — 27 Jan 2011
"I'm the new Berlin Wall. Try and tear me down!".
A German-American transexual woman forms a rockband, musing her story through her powerful lyrics and refusal to never back down when life tries to steer her in that direction.
An Musical, indie, GLBTQ film based on a musical- this one went far higher then what standards I expected it to be. You could litterally feel the emotion spouting from this film, weather it's rage, sorrow, or pride. It's actually a pretty deep film for a musical which holds many symbolism of various social issues and historical events.
The acting was decent but our main character was where it was at. Hedwig and the angry inch- hence the title. The actor did a great job as this character and really sold it performing musically.
Music was really cool.
It can be a little over-the-top for some but it's definately worth checking out. It'll have you talking.
