Review of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) by Joseph N — 23 Feb 2008
I just finished watching the movie "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" which was recommended to me by a friend. I also watched the documentary chronicling the off-Broadway play and origins of the narrative which led to said movie.
I enjoyed it very much. I have always longed for movies that could speak to me emotionally, and those movies are always counted among my favorites. This movie is art. At the same time there is an intellectual side to it; thinking about love, and beauty, and morality.
I don't know if I could "blanket-statement" say that I recommend this movie. Not everyone I know would enjoy this movie. But if you like art, if you like love stories (or rather a story about love), and especially if you like punk rock.
