Review of Hector and the Search for Happiness (2014) by Jake N — 08 Oct 2014
Meh. Overwrought and underwhelming. I was so uninterested in this story, I was tempted to leave the empty theater. Simon Pegg tries his best, but just can't carry this bland, generic, meandering script.
After seeing "Gone Girl" the day before this, it was nice to see Rosamund Pike in a different light. I just barely cared about any of the characters, and was relieved when it was all over. It's like a less inspired and heartfelt "Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
