Review of Heckler (2007) by Brian M — 02 Jun 2012
Anyone who's ever been on stage performing stand up, knows how tough it is to get heckled. It is often beneficiary, but other wise normally a scripted glitch that interferes with a show that people spent money on. This documentary focuses on the heckler, the critic, the reviewer, the blogger and thee whole nine yards. It humanizes the people in the spot light and calls out the openly crass, honestly wicked people in the bashing business. Names like Lewis Black, Bill Hicks, Bill Mahr and even folks in sports, movie production, musicians & magicians put their personal accounts on the line. Heckler is honest and that is the reason why I like it.
Anybody who chooses to have a position where they put themselves with the public eye, not just Comics or other celebrities but public speakers, teachers, writers, chefs, dancers, painters......anybody who's ever gone to a public school or has been on a team will relate to the rawness of people with opinions who go the extra mile to crush ones image or liveliness without even knowing who it is you are shutting down.
I recommend this flick!
Cheers!
