Review of Heavy Metal (1981) by Rodrigo H — 25 May 2008
Wow. This movie was a trip. Action, fantasy, comedy, gore, nudity, rock & roll, flying corvettes . . . all the right ingredients for entertainment.
Also, the animation was a real treat. You can tell the animators were really enjoying themselves. The visuals shift gear between substories, but each has a wonderfully dextrous and illustrated look. It's unlike anything in terms of style.
Mindless fun for real guys (and girls). It's hard to find this sort of raw, honest, artistic vision today.
