Review of Heavy Metal (1981) by Corey N — 06 Dec 2009
This is a cult movie made and based off of the magazine of the same name. The movie is group of many different stories and animation styles. Like the magazine we get stories that are very Sci-fi and horror based.
Plus you get many nude animated characters much like the magazine. Not sure if every story needed that. The animation is very good in this film. Each story was interesting and yet very odd at times. I loved the robot voiced by John Candy.
That character was very funny. Plus each story would have music by famous metal/rock bands such as Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Devo, Donald Fagen, Grand Funk Railroad, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Nazareth and Stevie Nicks.
So it had a good soundtrack. Overall this is a animated film that may not be for everyone. But it has a very interesting look and style. Odd yet fun. Worth at least a one time watch.
