As a kid I thought the box cover was pretty cool but I also liked Star Trek. So, I obviously didn't know what was cool. The movie is a lot like a really pervy 13 year old boy was allowed to make a movie.
So yeah sorta groundbreaking in 1981 but it's not so much now that it's nothing but 13 year old pervs running society. Also, your appreciation of this will be greatly enhanced if you think a robot Eugene Levy getting it on with a Jessica Rabbit type that they accidentally abducted from Earth instead of getting the president is funny.
