Review of Heaven's Gate (1980) by Sara C — 05 Aug 2006
While it was a notorious flop it does have its strengths - an interesting historical event as subject matter, tender erotic scenes between Kristofferson and Huppert, beautiful cinematography by Vilmos Zsigmond - but it is poorly written and structured and way, way too long.
The same was true of Cimino's over-rated "The Deer Hunter", so it was probably the studios own fault they lost so much money.
