Review of Heaven's Gate (1980) by Brian R — 08 Jan 2009

I tried to watch this movie with an open mind. I will say this: It's not as terrible as some people have said. But it's not great, either. I don't have a problem with long movies, but this one seems to wander aimlessly from sub-plot to sub-plot.

There are countless scenes that add little or nothing to the overall story. Seriously, this movie should have been at least 90 minutes shorter. Having seen the movie, I can understand why it went so far over budget -- and why audiences tended to stay away.
