Review of Heavenly Creatures (1994) by Caroline B — 02 Sep 2010
Peter Jackson's best movie. The weird, surreal style of the film works with the context of the story, and it also boasts great debute performaces by Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey who have both gone on to bigger things.
The relationship between the girls seems real and then gets real scary. It feels like the film really did tie into the true events of the crime and what occurred by using real diary extracts and locations.
It is also interesting to note that the girl that Kate Winslet played is still a prolific mystery writer (Anne Perry).
