Review of Heavenly Creatures (1994) by Sabra E — 15 Dec 2010
This movie was directed well. All around it's well made, being Peter Jackson's directorial debut or not.
The content, base on a true story, was uncomfortable at times in the air of obsession being articulated or mental illness clouding the minds of two young girls grasping for ways to make sense of the world. But the bursts of fantasy imagery were a nice change from the stream-line story.
Clay figures brought to life from an imaginary world, unicorns in a forest, castles in fifth dimensions, it all adds light to the premise of two young girls who are planning the murder of one of their mothers.
