Review of Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (1957) by Allan C — 20 Dec 2014
Solid wartime jungle survival film from co-writer/director John Huston about marine Robert Mitchum and nun Deborah Kerr finding themselves marooned on an island in the Pacific during WWII. There's great on screen chemistry between Mitchum and Kerr, which really grounds the film.
There's also an interesting subtext around the rituals of the Marine Corps and the Catholic church. Good suspense and believable characters make this one kid of minor classic, which is reportedly Mitchum's favorite film of his.
