First "Son of God", "God's Not Dead" and now "Heaven is for Real". What is going on here? Christians please, stop making these movies, you guys only care about the message. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum will absolutely love this movie. Sure, it has good intentions but my god, "Heaven is for Real" is nothing but religious propaganda. No matter what religion your in, you might find this movie to be a complete bore.

Based on the 2010 best-seller by Pastor Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent, "Heaven is for Real" stars Kinnear as Todd Burpo, a local pastor from Imperial, Nebraska. Todd believes that his 4-year-old son Colton (Connor Corum) experienced Heaven during emergency surgery. Colton tells his father that he met his unborn sister (whom he didn't know about) and his great-grandfather who died 30 years before Todd was born. Colton also claimed that he met Jesus riding a rainbow-colored horse and even sitting on his lap.

This movie is so unbearably preachy. It was directed by Randall Wallace who wrote the Oscar-winning epic "Braveheart" and he also did "The Man in the Iron Mask", "Secretariat" and "We Were Soldiers". This is a giant step backward for Wallace. "Heaven is for Real" is his worst movie since he wrote "Pearl Harbor" for director Michael Bay. The visualizations of Colton's trip to heaven are so unbelievable, all you can do is say WTF?

Randall Wallace is still a great storyteller but "Heaven is for Real" did not move me at all. Greg Kinnear is always a charming actor but even he is not enough to save this movie from it's heavy-handed source material. Surprisingly, it did very well at the box office. So far, it has grossed 91 million dollars just in North America. This is bad news people, we're going to see more of these Christian-themed movies in the future. God help us.
