Review of Heaven Is for Real (2014) by Adrian Z — 04 Jul 2014
The Christian theme seems strong in this film, so one might assume it would play better with Christian audiences, but there is a sweet - if not syrupy- little drama being told here (based on real events) which finds a pastor's (Greg Kinnear) assumptions about his faith challenged when his 4 year old son (Connor Corum) returns from a near-death-experience with stories of heaven, angels, and Jesus.
Remarkably, the film does not shy away from acknowledging the child may have been conditioned to see such things through his upbringing. Not too preachy then, and graced by a solid performance from Kinnear and an endearing one from the disarmingly cute Corum.
