Review of Heaven Is for Real (2014) by Michael W — 26 Aug 2014
Heaven Is for Real was appealing for me because I have been around a near death experience, and I watched the movie intently. Heaven Is for Real is character driven script. The first half develops the characters and their surroundings.
With the near death of the town's pastor's son the pastor goes through a spiritual crisis. Panic and misunderstanding strikes the community! Heaven Is for Real, is well written, directed, and acted, but I felt empty wanting to know more! (I should read the book) A message about pain, endurance and growth through adverse circumstances is what I got out of the experience.
But maybe the real message is about having faith which is a radical notion in a world of doubt. Three stars.
