Review of Heaven Is for Real (2014) by Katy O — 01 Jun 2015

I recently saw the Movie Heaven is For Real. Overall I found the movie very pleasing. The movie is about a boy whose father is a Pastor, and the boy underwent emergency surgery. After the operation, Colton (son) began explaining things that almost seemed impossible and supernatural. He talks about many things, such as seeing Jesus and angels while he visited heaven.

There are many actors that I feel did a great job in this movie. To start, Greg Kinnear played an amazing role as the father (Todd Burpo). I could definitely see that he was getting deep into his role as a Pastor and as a loving father. It is also very clear that Greg Kinnear establishes a strong connection between him and his son in the movie. Also, Connor Corum did a great job at playing the role of Colton Burpo. He not only looked the part, but I could tell that he was trying to get in touch with his spirituality. He was very cute and very convincing.

What I really loved about this movie was that I was able to find a new angle to Christianity. Because I have studied Buddhism all my life, I have not really been able to look closely into different religions. While watching this movie, I found it very relatable. At times when one of my loved ones was in pain, I would also pray for them, but just in a different way. There was so much love and passion from the characters in this movie that many times I felt I was going to cry.

Overall, this was an amazing movie. Right when I watched the trailer, I knew it had to be a movie that I needed to watch. I definitely recommend watching this movie, no matter what religion you are.
