Review of Heaven Help Us (1985) by John M — 25 Oct 2007
"To whom Brother!" I went to a boys prep school (not in the 50's) and think this ranks near the top in my all time favs of that genre. Kevin Dillon portraying the younger version of his Entourage character is hilarious.
Andrew McCarthy's voice is still cracking in this movie (his debut?) which would be the first time he co-starred with my high school days crush Mary Stuart Masterson (Some Kind of Wonderful). Donald Sutherland with a perm is perfect as the headmaster of the school who seems strict and aloof.
"LUST!" Wallace Shawn makes another great supporting appearance with a great monologue delivered to the kids before a co-ed dance. I have been to the bridge that rips the car in half on the Gowanus Canal and still want to stand up and cheer when Andrew McCarthy throws his famous punch.
