Review of Heaven & Earth (1993) by Robert B — 23 Jan 2010
One of Stone's less popular flicks it's my favorie as I thought Tommy Lee Jones was simply great in this film. I also really liked how Stone captured the feeling of So. Cal America in the early 70's the trauma of how in the world do you wake up the next day as if the war is over.
The scene where Jone's Vietnamese wife enters a modern grocery store and there is rows upon rows of food and she starts hoarding it all into the small shopping cart says volumes about the differences in cultures between those who have near nothing and those with greedy abundance.
If you've never seen this movie you really should.
