Review of Heathers (1989) by Deric E — 19 Apr 2011
It's hard to believe that 1989 was in fact over 20 years ago, that when the cast appear on screen "CGI" comes to mind. And were high school movies this gratuitious (in relative terms) back then? A very clever movie that is both funny and thoughtful starring a great Winona Ryder, though the movie really belongs to Christian Slater's psychotic rebel of a character.
It's strengths lie in its portrayal of teenage suicides and its effects on the townspeople, but I felt that the movie evolved into this action/suspense flick towards the end before switching gears and ending with a high. Highly recommended!
