Review of Heathers (1989) by Jesse O — 03 Dec 2011
This is probably one of the best high school movies ever made, it breaks pretty much every genre cliche and creates its own style that, sadly, hasn't been replicated much since then. The only thing close has been Mean Girls, and that doesn't even come close to this movie in terms of how dark and fucked up the movie can be.
The writing is excellent and full of wit and spark. The cast is also pretty damn perfect, at least in casting people that fit their role down to a fucking T. Granted the movie loses a bit of steam before the end, but it picks up again as it ends.
Overall, as mentioned, this is a tremendous comedy whose cult following is welo deserved.
