Review of Heathers (1989) by James J — 02 Feb 2012
Dealing with surprisingly controversial material, 'Heathers' is entertaining and a bit disturbing, but suffers from being the cheesiest film on the planet. The 80's are in full effect here and it's everything you want to forget about that decade.
Of course, there's a lot of quirkiness that translates into humor sometimes, but overall this changes inconsistently between humor and drama. This is just one of those cult movies you gotta shake your head at and enjoy despite all the rampant silliness.
Oh, and Christian Slater is just one of the creepiest guys on the planet. I've actually met him and he's not quite as creepy in real life, but he plays his role to a tee here, reminding me quite a bit of the shadiest guy I ever went to high school with.
