Review of Heathers (1989) by Austin S — 29 Oct 2012
Michael Lehmann's later movies show us what a hack he is. But before that, there was this empty and mean-spirited movie. Before it ends you may find yourself rooting for the nihilistic villain who wants nothing less than the collapse of society - violent anarchy.
Christian Slater is doing a rather good Jack Nicholson impression here. It's a shame he couldn't define his own acting 'brand' - his and Ryder's performances are the best things about the movie.
