Review of Heathers (1989) by Anna Q — 17 Feb 2013

Loved it. It's dark, but not excessively so, like Very Bad Things or Pink Flamingos. It's very funny even today; there's something about the way the characters talk in this movie that is very compelling.

The language is very blunt and coarse, not far off from the mundane obscenity one uses and hears, though there is high creativity in some of the phrasing. I'm not sure what point was being made, but in the end, it was funny and sharp and risky, willing to make you uncomfortable but not alienate you completely.
