Review of Heathers (1989) by Caleb M — 15 Jun 2009
Extremly dark and hilarious with some very interesting things to say about highschool and society in general. This is one of those 80s teenager films that, while being extremely dated stylistically (cloths, slang, basic shitty look etc.
) has aged well in that it's ideas have stood up and even gained more poignancy over time. Ryder carries the film well, and Slater is a great rebel/psychopath, channeling Jack Nicholson. "Society nods its head at any horror the American teenager can think upon itself!".
