Review of Heat (1995) by Henryw. — 06 Aug 2006
If you'd asked me 11 years ago when I first saw it I would have given it a 2. Now it stands out as one of the best films of the 90s, and the film that utterly epitomises the decade. It's a meditative study of utterly fragile post-feminist men poised on the brink of all-conquering suicidal existentialism and only able to express themselves through massive acts of violence.
And that's not something you get in any other Hollywood blockbusters I can think of.
