Review of Heat (1995) by Anders A — 26 Jan 2015
Michael Mann succeeds with this remake of L.A. Takedown, this time with perfection. Provided by spectacular realistic and brutal robberies, it goes down as one of my favorite action-thrillers. The cast is excellent with "stars" in every role (not at the time), and the De Niro vs Pacino provides a vision of the "bad guy & cop" as pretty similar types sticking to the only thing they have.
Mann is a always keeping the story naturalistic with no senseless overdoing, keeping it sharp, on the edge, where it needs to be.
