Review of Heat (1995) by Hannah D — 26 Sep 2015
Micheal Mann's direction is on pooooint. The acting is good minus Pacino (doing his typical shouting routines). The script is stupid. It's like they keep having to add new melodrama to keep things moving rather than just working with everything they've already introduced.
What is the purpose of that dude being shown to be a serial killer? Natalie Portman went to his hotel room- why?? Al Pacino, a cop, identifies with the criminal who got Buffalo Bill killed? The idea of cop/criminal is kind of interesting a la The Wire but poorly executed here.
